News March 21, 2023

Concert will attend the Colt DCS ground-breaking ceremony for the London 4 Data Centre site on Tuesday, 28th February alongside the Colt DCS team, and key project staff who worked on this hyperscale project.

Concert provided Project Management and FIDIC Engineering services for the Hayes, West London development which includes the former Optimum Data Centre on the Springfield Road Industrial Area, as well as neighbouring Tudor Works and Veetec Motor Group facilities, into a new, hyperscale data centre campus.

The new campus will provide 56MW of IT Space across two Buildings including a new Sub-Station with works scheduled for completion in May 2024. The site is aiming for BREEAM Excellent rating.

An integral part in securing planning permission from London Borough Hillingdon Council was played by Concert, despite local grid limitations by ensuring compliance with the new GLA “London Plan” by reporting on impact on emissions and sustainability measures. Surveys were undertaken onsite prebuild, reporting on water table level and obstructions. Identifying any potential obstacles to build.

Robust PEP has been developed and implemented by Concert , setting the management and communication procedures with a rigorous governance structure that set out how decisions, approvals and controls for the project were to be implemented with responsive decision making to achieve a best-in-class Project Team performance against the key data centre metrics of PUE, DCIE, and WUE.

Concert provide management of all utility connections and diversions for the campus as managing multiple third-party dependencies identified and ensured that their potential impacts are understood, quantified, and managed from the outset. A procurement strategy to suit the current market, maintaining the element of competitiveness was also provided by Concert.

Clear commitments from potential tenants, were obtained by Concert, which influences on progressing the design following Stage 3.

Colt and London Borough of Hillingdon are in partnership with QualifyMe to provide training for local workforces in construction skills, providing a long-term legacy which benefits the local community.
