Concert were appointed to provide cost management and CDM services on the construction of a 56MW hyperscale data centre and associated dual circuit 80MVA power connection and 132/11kV sub-station. The project is to become part of the Digital Dagenham master development. The client would ultimately operate the Distribution Network Operator responsible for the distribution of electricity from their facility into the transmission grid.

Although the site had been extensively remediated, there was still a high risk of contamination being found during construction. To resolve this we recommended a change in design to omit 1400 CFA piles under the ground floor slab, and use vibrated concrete piles. This saved time, cost and reduced risk of excavating any contamination.

A flooded area of the site needed to be drained of water before the amphibian nesting season began, but the time taken for the discharge license from the water authority to be grated, may have put the entire project in jeopardy. Concert arranged for the enabling works contractor to procure high volume tanks to temporarily hold the drained water until the license was granted.
